The renovation and expansion of the Falmouth Hospital emergency department—part of Cape Cod Healthcare’s region-wide initiative to improve emergency healthcare—enhances the current facility by improving accessibility and integrating state-of-the-art amenities. 

Throughout the project, we prioritized critical procedure analysis and development of a smooth operational flow. We utilized full-scale room mock-ups for both of these elements, which allowed us to create a comprehensive plan embodying Lean design principles. The resulting facility will improve staff communication as well as the efficiency and quality of patient care.

The renovation also includes the addition of features aimed at Cape Cod’s growing elderly population. Through innovative geriatric design elements including natural lighting, soothing colors, and special slip-resistant floors, our design improves Falmouth Hospital’s accessibility for a growing percentage of its patients.
