This gut renovation creates a new suite for dialysis treatment and education in the main teaching hospital at UMass Memorial. The dialysis stations (nine bays and four isolation rooms) are compactly located around the central nursing core to maintain direct lines of sight to patients at all times. Teaching and training spaces have been separated from the treatment areas to eliminate incidental traffic in the suite where infection control is a paramount concern.

With an ICU located below, and thousands of gallons of water flowing through the suite daily, multiple redundant systems were included to prevent water from infiltrating spaces below.
