Worcester Polytechnic Institute created space for state-of-the-art research and development near its main campus. isgenuity was the architect for the two-story, 35,000 square foot facility. The third floor houses PracticePoint, a membership-based research, development, and commercialization alliance founded to advance healthcare technologies. The focus is on smart and secure medical devices that interact with the physical world to improve the promise of patient-centric care.

Suites include a residential simulated home environment, a rehabilitative care area with motion-capture and force plates, a controlled-care mock inpatient care area. Also, a full surgical imaging suite, complete with a 3T MRI, a fluoroscopy / procedure room, a 7T animal MRI, and an IACUC compliant animal care and holding sub-suite are provided.

Corporate pods are available for lease by outside research partners. An additive manufacturing room, machine shop, and electronics area allow for on-site fabrication.

The fourth floor houses faculty labs and offices for PracticePoint as well as WPI’s Photonics department, a classroom, and a specialty ISO clean room suite for wafer and chip research, testing, and production.
